The US Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District contracted ANAMAR to conduct an Environmental Assessment for the proposed expansion of the Charleston ocean dredged material disposal site (ODMDS).

  • NEPA

The Charleston District identified a need for EPA to expand the existing 4 square mile Charleston ocean dredged material disposal site (ODMDS) disposal zone to ensure long-term site capacity for dredged material generated from new work and ongoing navigation channel maintenance projects. The size of the proposed ODMDS (9.8 square miles) is based on current capacity modeling of the existing disposal zone, historical dredging volumes, future dredging volumes for new work and maintenance projects, estimated shoaling rates, and capacity of upland confined disposal facilities (CDFs) in the area.
