ANAMAR was contracted by USACE Portland District to generate an updated Site Management and Monitoring Plan (SMMP) for Coos Bay ODMDS Sites E, F, and H. The SMMP provides up-to-date information on site characteristics, management objectives, disposal history, dredged material characteristics, timing and techniques of disposal, results of site monitoring surveys, a future monitoring and special studies schedule, and special management conditions for these sites.

Project Statute

  • MPRSA Section 102

The update to the 2006 Site Management and Monitoring Plan (SMMP) for Coos Bay ocean dredged material disposal sites (ODMDSs) E, F, and H was needed to provide safe and efficient disposal of dredged material at each of the ODMDSs while minimizing the effects to coastal resources.

Specific management objectives include:

  • Avoiding the creation of persistent mounds
  • Practicing beneficial use of dredged material when possible
  • Minimizing negative effects on marine resources
  • Minimizing interference with other uses of the ocean
  • Maintain safe navigation and commerce
  • Promoting safe and efficient dredge operations
  • Documenting disposal and monitoring activities

The SMMP provides up-to-date information on site characteristics, management objectives, disposal history, dredged material characteristics, timing and techniques of disposal, results of site monitoring surveys, a future monitoring and special studies schedule, and special management conditions for these sites.
