Sediment Evaluation, Military Fuel Piers, Alabama and Florida

Maintenance dredging within the project areas in Florida and Mississippi was conducted for the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC).  The areas of interest for this sediment evaluation included Hurlburt Field, Eglin AFB, and NAS Pensacola in Florida and Gulfport ANG in Mississippi.

ANAMAR was contracted by USACE to perform sampling activities for a sediment evaluation.  The purpose of this project was to collect and analyze sediment samples from specified project locations to determine the suitability of the material for disposal in nearby upland confined disposal facilities.  Dredging is required in the project area to ensure continued navigability and maintenance of the fuel pier entrance channels.

This project involved a combination of grab and core samples.  ANAMAR coordinated and directed operations for this project and worked closely with USACE to design sampling and analysis schemes, perform sample collection, subcontract laboratory analyses, and prepare final report deliverables.  ANAMAR reviewed all data and produced a report summarizing the results of the physical and chemical analysis of sediment samples collected from the project area.
