Section 103 Dredging Evaluation, Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point

This project involved vibracoring up to 20-foot cores and grab sampling sediment and water at specific locations within the Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point on the Cape Fear River in North Carolina and collecting reference sediment material offshore near the New Wilmington ODMDS.  ANAMAR served as the prime contractor to the Wilmington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and managed all aspects of this project.

ANAMAR was responsible for pre-planning and coordinating the logistics of field sampling using two contract vessels and two types of sampling.  ANAMAR also homogenized, composited, and distributed the samples to the appropriate contract laboratories.  The sediments and waters were analyzed for a wide range of contaminants, including dioxins, pesticides, PCBs, PAHs, and metals.  Tier III toxicity analyses were also performed.  ANAMAR reviewed and validated all data and wrote the final comprehensive, legally defensible report.  All work was completed on time and within budget.
